Leah is a speech pathologist who loved her career and was the primary income earner for her family of five. Everything changed when she was diagnosed with stage four cholangiocarcinoma, also known as bile duct cancer. The pain caused by her primary tumor and her chemo and radiation treatments rendered her unable to work, adding to the stress of a cancer fight that’s impacting the entire family.

With immediate expenses and bills stacking up for Leah and her family, Tony Foundation stepped in to provided critical gap funding to help them in their time of crisis. During a visit to the family’s home earlier this week, TF presented Leah with a check for $5,000, to which she said “it’s truly humbling, and it will help tremendously.”

Leah and her family are ready to keep fighting the battle against cancer.

“I wasn’t going to be a number. I am me, and I’m going to fight it and win,” Leah told us. Her family is in her corner all the way, and so are we.
